13th Annual Ruth's Chris Golf Classic to Benefit Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Baltimore, MD – September 8, 2010

The Ruth's Chris Steak House Sizzling Celebrity Golf Classic will be held on Tuesday, September 21 at Chestnut Ridge Country Club. Hosted by Ruth's Chris Steak House and local franchisee Steve de Castro, the annual tournament benefits the Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Now in its 13th year, the tournament has raised more than $2.4 million to help find a cure for blood cancers. Funds raised are used to support the work of local researchers who are working to help children and adults who are suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, Hodgkin’s disease, and other blood cancers.

The event was started by de Castro after the daughter of a close friend died of leukemia at just 27. It draws athletes and celebrities, including Mark Clayton, Jonathan Ogden, Cal Ripken, Pat Sajak, and Adelius Thomas.

Each year, a series of public promotions are held in the weeks leading up to the event. This year’s include the opportunity to win a brand new Lexus.
